You can only protect your rights if you know them first! Buying real estate is a complicated legal and financial matter, and the old adage of "Buyer Beware" is made only more apt due to the large amount of money involved. Let me help you avoid buyer’s remorse when purchasing your next home.
I grew up in Harris, Minnesota, and have lived in Olympia, Washington and Crowley, Louisiana, the heart of Cajun country. After becoming a Minneapolis resident in 1996, I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Baccalaureate degree in Art in 2002. I enjoy organic gardening, snowboarding, SCUBA diving and traveling. I believe equally in the merits of playing hard as working hard, and laughing is one of my favorite things to do!
Prior to finding my calling as an Exclusive Buyer's Agent (EBA), I worked in customer service, landscaping, and grassroots fundraising. Being an EBA allows me to combine my customer service experience with my passion for progressive causes. I am an active volunteer in my community of Northeast Minneapolis, and an advocate for consumer rights in the real estate industry. I have experience in energy efficient housing, first-time buyer financial assistance programs, and serving diverse communities. Interpretation services are available to clients who speak languages other than English as their primary tongue, and for the hearing impaired.
I am a member of good standing with the National Association of REALTORS®, Minnesota Association of REALTORS®, Minneapolis Area Association of REALTORS®, and the Golden Key Honor Society. I have succeeded in obtaining the Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) designation from the Real Estate Buyer's Agent Council, as well as my broker's license from the State of Minnesota, which helps me serve my clients through the continuing education that those designations require. I have formal training in effective negotiation strategies, financing, and communication. In addition to formal education, I make it a priority to work with superior industry professionals in order to learn from their years of experience.
I am convinced that buyers–once educated about the dangers of dual agency–will insist upon exclusive representation. Representing buyers exclusively means I never have to sell my clients a property that doesn't meet their needs, nor put myself in a position where a conflict of interest can put my clients at risk. It's my mission to gain every possible advantage for my clients, while guiding them through what is quite possibly the most important purchase of their lives–both financially and emotionally. I take my duties as an agent very seriously, and I strive to represent my client's interests as if they were my very own. My dream of performing meaningful work that I am passionate about is realized by helping my clients to achieve their dream–owning the right home at the right price.
Working with first-time homebuyers and buyers seeking residential properties are my specialties. I am committed to buyer and consumer education, and am always happy to discuss the buying process and the pitfalls that buyers commonly face in real estate transactions. I encourage buyers to contact me before calling a listing agent, attending an open house, or signing a contract for representation: you will be talking directly to an agent legally bound to represent the seller's best interest. Know your rights, and work with an agent who is committed to protecting them!
