Remember Witt's Market on Hennepin? Bridgemans? Luigi's? There was another grocery store on Hennepin too. And, at one time there were 4 dime stores on Nicollet Avenue. I miss French fries at The Forum. Weren't the shoe salons on Nicollet beautiful. They had long windows displaying beautiful and stylish shoes. What am I getting to? The changes in real estate landscape.
Thirty years ago, when I was first married, the average home size was quite a bit smaller than what it is today. A household of people fought for one bathroom every morning. That was still acceptable 30 years ago. Dishwashers weren't required. Kids took turns washing and drying dishes. Only the very rich and famous experienced microwaves. Litton was the first maker with a monopoly on the market. No one considered a "master suite". Laundry was always a basement chore. City people wanted to live on a bus line. Families ate more meals together at home and evenings were spent with everyone around the same television fighting over what to watch and who would change the channel. Those were the days!
We've changed. Our values and ideas have changed and so have our real estate needs and wants. Fast forward to the present. In 30 years I've lived in 4 states and I've negotiated my way in and out of several homes and moves. I've owned and lived in a condo, new construction, a house built in 1885, a couple duplexes, one story and two story homes and now a townhouse. In the late 1980's I finished my Bachelor's degree at Loyola University and also graduated with 2 paralegal certificates. For the next 5 years I worked with a sole practitioner attorney in a Chicago suburb. I learned a lot. Some of those years we closed 250 residential real estate transactions in a summer. I researched and wrote title work, scheduled closings and prepared closing documents. I like detail. In 1996 my family and I returned to Minnesota. I started working as a mortgage loan processor and loan originator and in 1999 I became a licensed real estate agent. I've completed the coursework to be a Mediator and the coursework for the professional designations of ABR, Accredited Buyer's Representative and CBR, Certified Buyer's Representative. As my license requires, I keep up with the 30 hours of continuing ducation every 24 months. I love this work!
I know it's a cliché but I like working with people. I like listening to life stories. I'm interested in other people's outlooks and approaches to life. My real estate background put together with my interest in people make assisting buyers with their real estate purchases a natural for me. I work all over the 11 county metro area. My buyer's have included first time home buyers, investors, empty nesters, singles and married people with and without kids. Together I've assisted and negotiated purchases from Pine City to Silver Lake to south of the Cannon Falls area. Let's meet and I'll explain the real estate buying process and send you home with supporting information for your review. I want your business!
